What is Botox® ?

Botox is a prescription nerve blocker used to paralyze or “freeze” muscles in your face. Dr. Lee uses Botox to treat fine lines, crow’s feet, and wrinkles around your mouth and eyebrows. Deep furrow lines between the eyes are most commonly targeted. He and his other certified specialists are able to inject Botox in a brief 15-minute office visit, letting you get on with your busy life.

Is Botox different from dermal fillers?

Botox and dermal fillers aren’t the same. Dermal fillers such as Juvederm® and Radiesse®  use ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and calcium to fill in wrinkles and lines. Botox relaxes the muscle causing the wrinkle or furrow, causing the lines to disappear. The relaxed muscles smooth your skin and also help prevent future wrinkling, instead of filling the area below the skin, causing the area to appear plumper.

What does Botox treat?

Dr. Lee recognizes the traditional use of Botox as a wrinkle reducer, but continues to learn new uses for Botox. The area between your eyes may have a deep crease from years of frowning or furrowing, but Botox relaxes the muscle preventing the line from forming. Other fine lines around your mouth and eyes also improve after Botox injections.

Botox also creates a slimming effect for your face. By injecting the muscles of your jawline, your muscles weaken over time, creating a thinner, more feminine face. By relaxing these muscles with Botox, Dr. Lee is able to establish beautiful facial symmetry and balance in your face.

How long do Botox results last?

As with any injection, you may notice some soreness and redness that fades after a few hours. After a few days, the Botox treatment begins working to its fullest strength. Botox isn’t permanent. Results of Botox last around three months on average. Regular follow-up injections from Dr. Lee ensure your skin remains smooth and healthy looking.
