That’s it. You’re done. The hairy quarantine look was so 2020. No matter what the New Year brings, you want to dance into it sleekly, silkily, and free of unwanted hair. But to get the most out of your waxing, you have to prepare.
Summer is around the corner, which means a lot of time in the sun. Wearing sunscreen is a good way to make sure your skin is protected from the sun. But what happens if you start noticing sun spots on your skin? Should you be concerned?
If you’re in the Fremont, California area, and want to take care of your sun spots, we welcome you to visit Biz MedSpa and talk to Dr. Donald Lee. It’s always best to have a professional look at any skin issues that concern you, both to figure out the underlying causes and offer treatment options (if necessary).
First off, sun spots or liver spots are flat brown spots that can appear on skin that has been exposed to the sun. This is usually your face, arms, back of your hands or shoulders. These dark spots will look a lot more pronounced on individuals with lighter skin.
Sun spots are not cancerous and don’t come with any health risks, but many people just don’t like the way they look and want them removed. One of the treatments Dr. Lee recommends for sun spots is IPL Therapy.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy uses multiple wavelengths of light to counteract the discoloration the sun has left on your body. Other than some stinging, it is relatively painless and non-invasive. Dr. Lee will also put some cooling gel on the treated area to minimize any irritation or discomfort.
In addition to your sun spots, IPL can help with general redness, rosacea, birthmarks, freckles, and broken blood vessels.
IPL is not laser therapy, but rather pulses of light being sent to your skin. Each procedure takes about 20-30 minutes long, depending on the area being treated. Patients will wear dark glasses to protect themselves from the bursts of light.
Everyone is different in terms of what they need. However, three to six treatments, spread out about a month apart, tends to be the course of treatment for most people.
Dr. Lee uses the Palomar™ IPL device, which can also treat acne by killing bacteria and reducing scarring. Other than some redness and sensitivity, you won’t need any down time -- you can get back to your normal routine very quickly.
At first, the sun spots may temporarily look darker. But after a few days, they will begin to peel off.
If you’re unhappy with your sun spots, let Dr. Lee remove them using this safe and easy treatment. IPL therapy can also resolve other skin conditions as well. When you come into the office, Dr. Lee will go through the treatment process and tell you what to expect, as well as explain all the benefits of IPL.
